Delhi: Mahindra has been constantly
testing their upcoming Scorpio facelift; the SUV that brought Mahindra
into mainstream premium vehicle manufacturing is about get a fresh lease
of life. Launched almost a decade ago; the new Scorpio will be the
first major overhaul of the SUV inside-out.
Mechanically, Scorpio will be sporting the same 2.2 liter mHwak turbo diesel. But it might get a more powerful version of the engine from the XUV500. This engine in the current Scorpio churns out 120bhp and 290Nm of torque while in XUV500 the motor musters 140bhp and 330Nm of torque. The Scorpio's gearshift is expected to get a revamp along with the suspension setup and braking.
Major rivals of the Scorpio are Tata Safari Storme, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. As Tata & Renault will be bringing their refreshed Safari and Duster 4x4 respectively in coming months; the new Scorpio will surely get a good tiff!

Major changes in the 2014 Scorpio
- What can be carved out from the heavily camouflaged test mules is that the overall proportionals will be same. But it features heavy alteration to front while rear gets subtle changes.
- The SUV will be getting projector headlamps and LED taillamps while we can expect day-time-running-LEDs too.
- On the inside, the new Scorpio sports completely revamped dashboard compared to the current one.
- The vehicle gets new dual port instrumentation cluster with a large driver information screen providing plethora of info.
- The new SUV gets automatic climate control. While the central consoles' AC vents gets a rectangular design along with a new rear bottom mounted vents.
- The spy shots reveals that the Scorpio gets a large touch screen infotainment system and will certainly sports sat-NAV and other connectivity options.
- Power window switches have moved to doors from their earlier position at central console.
