Comparison Maruti Suzuki Swift Vs Hyundai i20: Compare Price & Technical Specifications

Hatchback segment is getting popular among Indian car buyers, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i20 are the most preferred choice of hatchback car buyers in India. The Maruti Suzuki Swift has been a best seller since the time of its launch, while Hyundai i20 has been doing pretty well for Hyundai Motors. Below is the comparison between Maruti Swift and Hyundai i20.

On the styling frontthe Hyundai i20 and Maruti Swift has got a decent interior and exterior. The Swift’s facelift has not got any significant update and looks same as the old Swift but dimension of new Swift looks larger due to the new headlight and tail light treatment.


On the other hand, the Hyundai i-Gen i20 retains the dimensions of the old version of i20. The new bumpers have given it increased length but the overall shape is unaltered.


Hyundai i20 and Maruti Swift both cars are loaded with many features which includeddual airbags, ABS, stylish alloy wheels, integrated audio system, keyless entry, multi-information display with the rear wiper/washer, but Hyundai i20 has a never seen before features in hatchback segment like, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, push button start, reverse guide camera, and electrically retracting rear view mirrors in their respective top-end variants.


Both i20 and Swift are available in petrol and diesel versions. The petrol engine of  Hyundai i20 is powered by 1.2-litre Kappa engine which produces the max power of  84bhp and a torque of 116nm, while the Swift’s petrol engine is powered by a 1.2-litre K-series, produces the max power of  87bhp and torque of 114nm.


Talking about the diesel engines, the Maruti Swift is powered by 1.3-litre Multijet engine which produces the max power of 75bhp and can produce the max torque of 190nm. On the other hand, Hyundai i20 diesel is powered by 1.4-litre engine which produces the max power of 90bhp and torque of 226nm.


The petrol Swift can give the mileage of 18.6 kmpl, while i20 petrol gives the mileage of 18.5 kmpl. On the other hand, the diesel Swift can give the mileage of 22.9 kmpl and the diesel i20 gives the mileage of 21.9 kmpl.


Talking about the prices, The Swift’s is available at the starting price of INR 5.18 lakhs for the base variant - LXi, while top varient ZDi retails at INR 7.84 lakhs. On the other hand, Hyundai i20 starts at the price of INR 5.53 lakhs for the base model - Era 1.2 and goes all the way upto INR 8.98 lakhs for the top end variant- Sportz Automatic (all prices on-road, Mumbai).
