The compact sedan segment is one of the hottest sectors in the Indian car market. In league of compact sedans Maruti Suzuki
was the first to make an appearance with its ever successful sedan
Swift Dzire in India. The Swift DZire is one of the hottest selling
sedan in Indian Market. So, what would be a better competitor for still
to come Tata Zest?
Indian drivers have already tried and trusted the DZire with 1.2 K-12 Series VVT petrol engine and a 1.3 litre D13D DDiS diesel engine. While on the other hand Tata Zest is available with 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine and 1.3 litre Quadrajet diesel engine. Tata is offering much for the diesel lovers with newly developed F-tronic 5-speed AT for diesel variants and the petrol variant will be available in 5-speed MT. While the Maruti DZire is still available in 5-speed MT for both the engines with the optional trim of 4-speed AT as top-end variant - ZXi with a petrol engine.
Mileage figures are the most important factor to compare any car in this segment; Maruti has always been a trusted name when it comes to delivering on the mileage front. DZire petrol engine gives a mileage of 19.1 Kmpl and 23.4 Kmpl for diesel engine. Tata has not yet reveled the mileage of Zest but we expect that the petrol engine will deliver the mileage of 13-14 Kmpl while the diesel will deliver 18-20 Kmpl.
Swift Dzire offering 14’’/15’’ discs in the front wheel with dual SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) airbags, ABS (Anti-lock braking system), BAS (Brake Assist System), (Engine Drag System) EDC and EBD (Electronic brakeforce distribution ) Tata meanwhile, is also offering impressive safety features in Zest like Immobilizer, ABS (Anti-lock braking system) apart from this the Zest will be equipped with dual airbags - one for each driver and co-passenger, door ajar warning, seatbelt warning, outside temperature display, distance to empty, average speed, child lock, front and rear fog lamps.
