The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will replace the SX4 and will come with petrol and diesel engines.
The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz
concept was unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo earlier this year.
With its sleek styling and modern proportions, the Ciaz certainly looks
like another winner from Maruti. The automaker has also learned from its
past mistakes and will launch both petrol and diesel powered Ciaz at
the time of launch in September.
In terms of design, the Ciaz looks as modern as its biggest rivals, the Hyundai Verna and the Honda City.
The front fascia is adorned by the large swept back headlamps and
chunky grille that has been accentuated the four distinctive horizontal
slats and a large Suzuki logo. The front bumper too adds to the
aggressive look of the Ciaz with a distinctive and forward look that
syncs well with the headlights.
Over to the rear, the Ciaz will get the large, almost Honda City
like taillights and a wide and sporty rear bumper. The Ciaz is
noticeably bigger than the current SX4 and will most likely be as long
or longer than the likes of the Fiat Linea.
Considering the fact that Suzuki has made the Ciaz particularly for
markets like India and China, the Ciaz will also be extremely spacious
in the rear and offer extremely high levels of boot space.
Expect the Ciaz to be powered by a 1.4-litre petrol
engine making 95PS of peak power and 130Nm of peak torque. The popular
diesel engine option though will most likely be the tried and tested
1.3-litre engine with 90PS of peak power and 200Nm of peak torque. The
Ciaz will get both a manual and an automatic gearbox although we are not
sure whether Maruti will go with a CVT gearbox or their new AMT setup.
