Crossover segment is fastly gaining popularity in the Indian automotive industry. India’s leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki, does not want to be left behind in this competition within the new category of vehicles. Maruti Suzuki displayed the S-Cross at the 2014 Auto Expo event held in Delhi. At the event the car reminded visitors of the good old car Suzuki Grand Vitara. The yet to be launched S-Cross would be the first attempt by the India’s largest carmaker to gain a footing in the crossover segment. Reportedly, Maruti Suzuki has also been working on the latest stylish sedan named Ciaz for the Indian market. As for the S-Cross launch, it is anticipated to be put up for grabs sometime in 2015.
The car is expected to be powered with 1.6 litre petrol engine which is capable of delivering 120 PS of power with 156 Nm of torque. It is anticipated that S-Cross may also be available in a diesel version powered by Fiat's 1.6-litre MultiJet engine. The current version that was unveiled at Auto Expo 2014 seems to be similar to the one showcased at the Geneva Motor Show.
