Fiat to launch the new Punto Evo on August 5

Fiat will launch the new Punto Evo for the Indian market on August 8. The car is the facelifted version of the Punto hatchback and gets cosmetic changes setting it apart from the outgoing car.
The Punto Evo is updated on the lines of the Avventura concept that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. The fascia sports a revised grille and wrap-around headlamps with the front bumper modified to house the new fog lamps. The side profile is the same as the present model while there are changes the company has made to the rear of the vehicle. The tail lamps are revised with light guides while the bumper gets a chrome strip with integrated reflectors. The vehicle's interiors are same as that of the facelifted Linea. It gets a revised dashboard and the instrument cluster is redesigned to give it a more modern appeal.
The Fiat Punto Evo is available in both petrol and diesel options. The car is powered by the same set of engines currently powering the Punto. The two petrol variants will be powered by a 1.2-litre unit that produces 67bhp of power and the 1.4-litre mill that churns out 89bhp of power. The oil-burner will be powered by the 1.3-litre MultiJet engine which will be available in two states of tune. The engine in its standard guise will produce 75bhp of power while the tuned up version will churn out 90bhp. All these engines will send power to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
The Fiat Punto Evo has been spied in our country many times before and now the manufacturer will finally launch it for the Indian market. Deliveries are expected to begin immediately after the car’s launch as some of the dealerships have already received the initial lot of cars. The Punto Evo will go up against the facelifted Volkswagen Polo and the upcoming new Hyundai i20 in the B+ segment of cars in India.

Toyota stays no. 1 in global vehicle sales

Toyota Motor Corp announced that its first-half group wide global sales rose 3.8%, meaning 5,097 million vehicles sold, setting a record for first-half sales and placing itself on top in the global auto industry, Volkswagen AG coming in second.

Sales grew on the Japanese market, but also in all of Asia, U.S. and Europe. According to Toyota, the sales in Japan were strong due to a rise in the consumption tax that was to begin from April 1st. Its vehicle sales also grew 12% in China, 5% in North America and 8% in Europe.
Toyota refused to comment on being at the top of the car industry global sales, stating that they solely want to satisfy their customers, one car at a time, and not competing to be number 1. All the auto officials usually make these comments in public, but the competition remains intense. Germany’s Volkswagen sold 4.97 million vehicles in the first 6 months of this year, which bumped General Motors out of the second place with 4.92 cars sold. VW’s sales are growing faster than those of GM’s, which is dealing with a major recall over faulty ignition switches.
Toyota finished at the top last year with a record of 9.98 million vehicles sold, while GM came in second, followed by VW. Toyota expects to sell more than 10 million vehicles this year, which would be a milestone in the car industry.

Upcoming 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Design Photos Leaked Showing Significant Changes

Porsche is introducing a new look to what is essentially its best street-legal race car yet, the 911 GT3 RS, and while the world has already grabbed a glimpse of the 2015 model in action on the German  Nürburgring track new photos of the car have been leaked showing some radical exterior changes.

Patent images obtained from by Britain’s CAR magazine suggests the next 911 GT3 RS will have more headroom, a beveled front hood and a wider stance than any other non-racing version of the RSR built on the company’s 991-generation introduced in 2011. The 991 is Porsche’s fourth platform for the 911 since the car was introduced in 1963.

Like the standard 911 GT3, the photos show twin central exhaust pipes and the rear wing intakes of the non-turbo current RSR. The car won’t be as powerful as the 991 Turbo S’s 552 brake horsepower though changes to the engine could push it past the current 469 bhp of the current GT3.
Volkswagen-owned Porsche Automobil Holding SE (FRA:PAH3) hasn’t said how much the 2015 911 GT3 RS will cost, but the current RS version of the 997 GT3 tops $200,000.

Future Cars: Audi Sharpens its Scalpel for New Q7 SUV

When the name Audi is mentioned, usually images of the carmaker’s legendary Quattro and RS models come to mind. Rarely will a fleeting thought go towards envisioning any SUV variant; however, for some, a large luxury SUV will tick all the appropriate boxes.

This is where the Q7 Sports Utility Vehicle sits amongst the Ingolstadt-based firm’s lineup. Launched in 2005, it has been fairly successful for Audi, even withstanding criticism for its polarizing styling and hefty mass.

The Bavarian brand still believes in success with this segment, hence why an new generation Q7 is full-steam in development. We’ve previously shown you the spy shots, and now with a layering of digital manipulation - I can reveal Audi’s design direction for the next all-new Q7.

Design:

Immediately, first impressions are that some serious scalpel-work has been made to reduce the previous version’s visual bulk. To achieve this, Audi have employed their latest design language that has toned the bodywork with technical simplicity and athletic tension.

One cannot miss that bold front-end; Audi’s signature grille is aggressively angular - so too are the lower intakes and sharp LED headlights. Everything is tightly creased from the front fenders and back.

This lean new aesthetic also helps the side profile, with taut shoulder-lines and lower door scallops helping remove that visual mass. The glasshouse is shorter than on the out-going Q7 - if anything, resembling an ‘angular’ Audi Q5 whilst retaining the original's clamshell trunk design.
Interior:

While we’ve yet to set eyes on the cabin in its entirety, you can bet on nothing short of Audi’s superb craftsmanship and design quality. Seating seven, it’s tipped to improve on comfort and practicality compared to the outgoing Q7.

Spy shots to date have partially revealed the upper dashboard, with heads-up display and Audi’s MMI interface screen being confirmed. Other technical goodies will no doubt reveal themselves in good time with an emphasis on driver assists and passenger entertainment.
Under The Hood:

At the lower end of the spectrum, a supercharged, 3.0-liter six-cylinder petrol engine will take care of day-to-day affairs. While performance aficionados will no doubt approve of utilizing a turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8 as found in other go-fast Audi’s.

Those partial to the smell of diesel will be pleased that turbocharged V6 and V8 oil-burners will make the cut, and there’s a strong possibly that a hybrid version will also appease the eco-conscious - watch this space.

Platform & Handling:

The departing Q7 weighs as much as the Moon; so in order to lose weight, Audi has employed lighter materials such as aluminium, carbon fibre and light high-strength steels. Rumored weight reduction of more than 300 kg (over 660 pounds) should make it an decent drive, even if SUV’s aren’t your inclination.
It will ride on the MLB platform shared with Bentley’s upcoming SUV, Porsche’s Cayenne and VW’s own Touareg for better economies of scale. This will allow access to advanced technological goodies and suspension options shared across the Volkswagen Group.

Market Positioning:

Audi’s 2016 Q7 sits amongst an ultra-competitive large luxury SUV segment. Fighting against BMW’s X5, Mercedes-Benz’s M-Class, Land Rover’s LR4 and to an lesser extent - Volvo’s XC90 and Acura’s MDX, the Quattro-branded entrant won’t have it easy.

Still, with impressive weight loss targets, powerful engines, and athletic styling - this next generation Q-ship should equal-foot with these rivals just fine.

Expect the upcoming Q7 to debut at the 2014 Paris Auto Show or early 2015 at the latest (that’s if they don't make another last-minute design change - again).

Finally, what do you think the large Audi’s diet program - does it look the goods, or should it get back on the treadmill? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz to Debut in September; Bookings, Price Details

Maruti Suzuki Concept car Ciaz is displayed during the Indian Auto Expo in Greater Noida, New Delhi February 5, 2014Reuters
Maruti Suzuki's next big offering in India Ciaz sedan will reportedly make its debut in September this year, claims a new report.
Maruti Ciaz, a much awaited and desired car in the domestic market has been spied testing extensively in the country many times. Now a new report of Zigwheels, which believed to have gotten the piece of information from a Maruti dealer claims that the highly anticipated Ciaz sedan will make its grand entry in the Indian auto market in September. It further adds that the dealers of the company will commence the bookings for Ciaz in early August.

Maruti Ciaz, a sedan based on the Suzuki Authentics concept car, first seen at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo has been trying the patience of auto lovers in the country since then. From what we know so far, the Ciaz is likely to host features like alloy wheels, engine start button, rear AC vents and front armrest along with dual tone black and beige interiors and leather seats. On the safety front, Maruti Ciaz is speculated to come with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD).
Sporting a more aggressive and stylish look, Ciaz is likely to get swept back headlamps and stocky grille with four idiosyncratic horizontal slats. In addition to this, there is also a large sporty rear bumper.
Coming to the engine specifications of the car, the new Ciaz is likely to get power from the same 1.3 liter Multijet diesel or 1.4 liter K Series petrol engine of Ertiga and is expected to carry some of the features of both SX4 and Ertiga. We do not know yet the power transmission of the new Ciaz, but the word is that the car will get manual and CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). That means the company will not be introducing Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) technology in Ciaz.
Once the all new Ciaz hits the market, Maruti will be phasing out its underperforming SX4 from the domestic market. The company has already stopped the production of SX4 in the country and is also offering heavy discount up to ₹1.17 lakh on the purchase of the same.
The new Ciaz will be pinned to rival the segment's current front runners Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento in the sub-continent and the company is likely to price its new offering in the ₹7.2 lakh to ₹10.5 lakh price brackets.

Maruti has launched its much awaited hatchback Maruti Celerio in Delhi Auto Expo 2014. Celerio is based on the Suzuki Astar concept production version and  retains the aggressive design. The Maruti Celerio isn’t a tall car by design but thanks to the generous 165mm ground clearance it does look tall. The glass house is similar to that of Estilo. The front end has slight resemblance with Etios Liva to it. The interior of Celerio isn’t any different from the other Maruti Cars. Though the design is not that extra ordinary it is not out dated as well. Celerio is quiet a spacious hatchback, with high quality of fabric and plastic used by Maruti.

Maruti Celerio is available in automatic variant but the Celerio's automatic technology is different from conventional auto transmission as it does not shift gears itself and this makes Celerio Automatic as fuel efficient as the manual variant.Maruti calls it automated manual transmission as Celerio does not have a clutch pedal and the gear function is similar to ant automatic variant, the gear up to go up and down to change the gears. This automatic variant is priced at INR 4.29 laks and INR 4.59 for the lxi and vxi variant respectively which makes Celerio one of the cheapest automatic car in the market. The price for the manual variants starts from INR 3.90 lakhs.

Maruti, Hyundai, Honda India ready for sales in Bhutan

Models from Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota will all make a bee line to Bhutan. The Department of Trade has officially lifted vehicle import ban which came into place in July 2012.
    maruti wagonr in bhutan
At the time, dealerships were hopeful despite government imposing additional 20% green tax on vehicles above 1,800 cc and 5% tax on vehicles below 1,800cc. Announcements at the time didn’t benefit car importers in any manner as policy’s were stringent in regards to zero imports. Now, two year’s later, this ban has been lifted immediately pushed inquiries of prices and spurt of new bookings.
Norbu Wangchuk, Minister of Economic Affairs in Bhutan has made this announcement following new taxation laws in place due to which the ban on import of vehicles has been lifted with immediate effect. Buyers are all heading to company showrooms with bags of cash to make new purchases, however, auto dealers are still awaiting written circulars from the Government prior to them accepting any orders.
Taking vehicle count in the country as on June 2014, total vehicles in Bhutan stood at 68,129 units while Thimpu has registration of 36,265 units. Most new buyers are showing preferences for vehicles manufactured in India. Those buying cars for personal use will only be able to afford Indian cars. Vehicles used in tourism industry wouldn’t be affected adversely as costs can be offset by increasing car rental prices. To understand this better, Hyundai Sante fe imported from Korea will cost about Rs 29 lakhs, and a 1500CC Santro Xing imported from India will cost less about Rs 4.5 lakhs.
New vehicle taxes here point to Bhutanese picking vehicle imports from India as compared to others since tax difference ranges from below 50% upto 125%. Tax revision also impacts light commercial vehicles but not heavy vehicles sales. Vehicles with cylinder capacity at or below 1500cc imported from India entail 55% tax (45% sales tax and 10% green tax).
Vehicles imported from third countries with cylinder capacity at or below 1500cc entail 100% tax (45 % sales tax, 45% customs duty and 10% green tax).
Vehicles with the cylinder capacity between 1500cc to 1799cc entail 115% tax ( 50% sales tax, 50% customs duty and 15% green tax). Vehicles with 1799cc-2500cc, tax imposed is 120%, 2500cc to 3000cc at 125% tax, and over 3000cc, tax imposed is 180%. Tax imposed on hybrid cars would be 45%.
maruti eeco in bhutanHonda Amaze has been introduced to the country via social media while Dhejung Motors, dealers for Honda in Bhutan have started accepting orders from July 15. Renault vehicles will also be up for sale in Bhutan. Thunder Motors, a company that is well versed with sales of electric cars will soon commence orders for non electric SUVs and for the Nissan Terrano.
Maruti Alto isn’t to be sold in Bhutan, and Alto 800 would be available at a strating price of about Rs 4 lakh. Maruti Celerio replaces A-Star at a starting price of about Rs 5 lakhs. Maruti Omni and WagonR prices will start at about Rs 4 lakh and Rs 5 lakh. Ertiga will also be sold. Toyota Prado (Rs 50-60 lakhs) and Hilux are to be sold in Bhutan. New Hyundai i20 Launching in Second Week of August?

n an earlier report, we brought you the spy shots of the all-new Hyundai i20 that is expected to hit our shores in the second week of August. Though rumours claimed that the new i20 would make its global debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October, our sources reveal that the company might introduce the product in India before that.
Hyundai India is planning to organise an event on August 11, 2014, which, we think, will mark the launch of the new-gen model here. However, the company hasn't officially said anything about what will happen at the event. What further assures us of its launch is the fact that the company is almost done with the existing model's stock and is offering huge discounts on it too.
    New Hyundai i20 launch date
The new i20 has received several design changes that give it a completely new look. The spy shots that we captured indicate that the car sports a handful of fresh elements, including a much better side profile with more synchronized fluidic design, brake lights with LED elements, differently designed air dams, swept back head-lamps and new ORVMs. The rear profile of the car has also received some changes, the most important being the 'boomerang' shaped tail-lights.

    Hyundai recalls 883,000 Sonata motorcars

DETROIT (AP) — Hyundai is recalling its popular Sonata midsize sedan to fix problems with the gear shift levers.
The recall covers 883,000 cars from the 2011 through 2014 model years.
The Korean automaker says the automatic transmission shift cable can separate from the shift lever. If that happens, the lever may not show the correct gear, increasing the risk of a crash.
Also, if the driver stops the car and puts the transmission in "park," the car may still be in gear and could roll away, injuring drivers, passengers or bystanders, Hyundai said in documents posted Wednesday by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Other symptoms include an inability to start the car because it can't be shifted into park.
Hyundai has received 1,171 warranty claims about the problem, plus seven other reports with related symptoms. Hyundai says there have been no crashes or injuries caused by the problem. The Sonatas being recalled were made from December 11, 2009 through May 29, 2014.
The Sonata is Hyundai's second-best-selling car in the US so far this year. First is the compact Elantra.
Hyundai will notify owners by letter between now and the end of September. Dealers will inspect the shift cables and repair the connection if needed

2015 Tata Kite Spied On The Road

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio has 57,800 bookings. The car may have been launched in February at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, but the booking fever hasn’t piped down and nor has the waiting period. Tata Motors has seen the potential of the segment and has started in-depth development of the Tata KITE. A hatchback that will slide in just above the Nano and try to compete with the Celerio among other cars. We received spy shots of the KITE earlier that showed that the car still uses the typically Tata design, but will be distinctive like the Zest and we just received a snap of the base variant KITE while being driven in Pune, Maharashtra.

Maruti Likely To Roll Out Celerio Diesel By Early 2015

After the launch of Celerio petrol AMT in India, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) had launched CNG variant of the hatchback in domestic market a few months ago. The car manufacturer is now planning to roll out diesel powered Celerio. As per media reports, MSI is likely to come up with Celerio diesel by early next year and the vehicle is currently being tested across the country. As for the pricing is concerned we expect the hatchback to be priced between Rs 4.75 lakh and Rs 5.75 lakh.

If we believe media reports, the car will not be powered with Fiat sourced 1.3 litre multijet diesel engine, instead it will come alongwith a 800 cc diesel motor developed by Maruti. According to the sources, this is the same engine that will also power MSI's Y9T LCV which is supposed to make its debut prior to Celerio diesel. The sources also revealed that the 800 cc, two cylinder, turbocharged diesel powertrain is supposed to be a frugal unit capable of outputting a top power between 45 to 50 Bhp and peak torque between 120 Nm to 130 Nm.

There are speculations that suggest that the low displacement engine is capable of delivering an exceedingly high fuel efficiency of 30 kmpl. If this turns out be a reality, it would certainly help Celerio diesel to leave behind its rivals, including Chevrolet Best diesel and Hyundai Grand i10, in the race of popularity.

According to sources close to the development, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is working on curbing the noise of the diesel engine that was supposedly high. In a bid to keeping the price under affordable range, the hatchback in the car will be equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox. Also, it is believed that the car manufacturer might not offer automated manual transmission in Celerio diesel

Mahindra's 112th Great Escape episode: Mud Splash in Lonavala

Spending a Saturday working especially when it’s raining outside is not a great idea. Unlike a normal Saturday which starts at 10:30AM, this one on 26th July started at 5AM. After stepping out of my house in Mumbai and with some amount of sleep still left in my eyes, I barely made it to the cab waiting to take me to Lonavala, a popular hill station located at a distance of close to 100kms away from Mumbai.
    Mahindra Great Escape 3
    Mahindra Great Escape 3
Rain drops dancing on the window and crunching on more kms as the hour passed, our cab reached the Mumbai Pune Express way. A late Friday evening and the driver’s smooth driving made me doze off in the car again. It was then the road to Aamby Valley which woke me up to take notice of the picturesque surroundings of Lonavala. Twisty sections, drizzling shower and dense fog wrapped locations with a chilly weather made the long drive totally feel worth it.
As we entered 19 degree North, an adventure park situated in Lonavala, the level of enthusiasm just sky rocketed with the sight in front. I have been to this place earlier and it was calm and serene back then but now It was buzzing with excitement and high spirit. The occasion was Mahindra’s 112th edition of Great Escape in Lonavala. There were Jeeps and SUVs unlike the ones we see daily. I managed to see Boleros and Commanders totally tuned for off-road driving. With raised suspensions and off-road ready Maxxis tyres, these beefed up monsters looked ready to take on muck in style.
    Mahindra Great Escape 7
    Mahindra Great Escape 7
Luckily, I and my colleague were allotted a Mahindra Thar. I am personally a big fan of dirty messed up Jeeps and our bottle green Thar looked exactly the part. Mahindra Thar enjoys a cult following among the off-roader’s fraternity. Launched in 2010, the Thar is the only pure bred Jeep which has the potential to crawl almost anywhere and everywhere along with offering decent levels of comfort.
Since it was an early morning start, we decided to get a quick breakfast at the venue. Vinod Nookala, Brand Manager Thar and Manish Sarser, Head off-roading initiatives at Mahindra Adventure, briefed us about the different obstacles and cautioning us about the challenges and difficulties involved. They are veterans indeed in off-roading but their level of patience while dealing with different drivers is simply fantastic. Being a newbie, I kept asking different questions regarding the ideal speed, perfect gear and right engine rpm and was sufficed with precise answers which were very helpful.
    Mahindra Great Escape 4
    Mahindra Great Escape 4
We drove through slushy sections with great quantities of mud wrapped around the tyres and reached obstacle number one. This one was a visually deceptive course. It was basically driving on a steep incline and reaching end point situated on a hill. It sounds easy on a normal sunny day on a normal piece of road. Rains played havoc by pouring generously and making the surface slippery thus affecting traction of our vehicles. Shifting into 4 Low mode, we drove on the incline and managed to get ourselves stuck in a ditch. After getting some tricks from Manish, we steered ourselves out and reached the final point.
The second obstacle was crossing a shallow pond. Once the vehicles were inside, driving through the pond was the challenging part as the water rose up to the bonnet level completely submersing the engine. Normally, a snorkel equipped Jeep can easily make it across but then many didn’t have one. The trick is to maintain correct engine speed sufficient to just push the water.
    Mahindra Great Escape 10
    Mahindra Great Escape 10
If the speed was more, the traction dropped and if the speed was less there were occasions of engine shut off. We managed to keep the engine revving to 1500 to 2500 rpm and easily drove across it. There were some instances of stalling of other vehicles coz of the water entering the engine bay.
The third obstacle was crossing a river and then to continue on a narrow section of rocks. Driving across a flowing river is tough. If the currents are heavy they can push the vehicle in any direction. Shifting it to first gear, we drove on this section carefully.
    Mahindra Great Escape 1
    Mahindra Great Escape 1
The last obstacle was the most interesting, challenging and grilling as it needed skills from all the earlier obstacles. In this obstacle, there was a steep decline and then a river crossing. Immediately after descending, there was a sharp left turn and then a climb. After crossing it, the vehicles had to climb a rocky terrain which had flowing water. The narrow passage of rocks made it complicated.
The final step was to make a U-turn and then climb a slushy hill. We got ourselves strapped and began driving through the complex course. No matter how carefully one decided to drive, all the vehicles managed to scrape some part or the other on the rocks because of their odd placement. We had enough knowledge from Naresh Bhosle, a veteran himself, about the ways and means to get through this course smoothly. Getting the Thar to crawl on unexplainable surfaces and finally drifting to the finishing line, we completed all the obstacles.
    Mahindra Great Escape 15
    Mahindra Great Escape 15
This was our first encounter with Mahindra Adventure’s Great Escape. The amazing team of trainers and experts showed great patience while explaining the intricate details which might be as simple as strapping oneself properly on the seats to the exact engine speed while coasting on a rough terrain. After a hard but joyous day in Lonavala driving a tough monster on hilly terrains, we headed back with lessons, tricks and memories of the day.

Tata Motors JLR to launch Jaguar XE luxury sedan on Sept 8 in London

Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover will hold the global premiere of the new Jaguar XE luxury sedan in London on September 8 with which it is looking to bring new levels of aluminium-intensive lightweight construction expertise to the segment.
The Jaguar XE will use a new grade of high strength aluminium called 'RC 5754', which has been developed specifically for the XE, the company said in a statement.
This new alloy features a high level of recycled material and makes a significant contribution to Jaguar's goal of using 75 per cent recycled material by 2020, it said. Commenting on the new product, Jaguar's Chief Technical Specialist Mark White said: The Jaguar XE body uses over 75 per cent aluminium content, which far exceeds any other car in its class.
He further said: We've made sure our aluminium-intensive body structure exceeds all global safety standards without compromising on vehicle design or refinement. Designed and engineered in the UK, the Jaguar XE will be the first Jaguar to be manufactured at a new purpose-built production facility at the company's Solihull plant in the West Midlands in the UK. The world premiere of the new Jaguar XE will be held in London on September 8, the company added.
It said the XE is projected to deliver fuel economy of less than 4 litres/100km on EU combined cycle. JLR has been focussing on lightweight construction for its Jaguar brand. The Jaguar XJ, XK and F-Type have all been developed using aluminium structures. The XE becomes the latest model to use aerospace-inspired technology in cars.

Tata Motors betting big on Zest, Bolt; Spends Rs 50 crore on dealerships

After losing its market share to other car manufacturers over the last few years, Tata Motors is all set to make a comeback with its soon to be launched Zest sedan and the Bolt hatchback. The company has  planned many activities for these vehicles and its consumers and is also in the process of changing the brands perception of poor quality to upmarket.
In order to achieve this image, Tata Motors will provide six years warranty – three years warranty will come with the car and the buyer has an option to extend it to three more years.  It has also launched a gaming application called “Tata Revotron Challenge”. It is also offering pre-launch test drives to people who are directly or indirectly responsible for sales – this includes dealers and financiers.  24x7 road side assistance will come free with these cars. Tata Motors hasn’t  stopped here. It has spent Rs 50 crore on showroom upgrades for around 250 dealerships across the country.  About 20 tablets have been provided to each dealer with the pre-loaded Tata Motors app that will visually explain the various features of the cars to the consumers.  All these changes have been incurred at a cost of Rs 30 lakh per dealership, of which a large chunk was paid by Tata Motors.
Tata Motors is also helping its channel partners in enhancing their process. Special focus will be put on enhancing the HR practices at dealerships to improve the recruitment, training, rewards and retention process. This entire process is expected to get over by August – the same time when the deliveries of the Zest will begin.
All we can say that these are some big and healthy changes made  by Tata Motors. It is trying very hard to change its perception of being the provider of  cheap quality products, which we believe was one of the majority reasons for its sales decrease. If everything falls in place, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Honda may have a problem!

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sedan to be launched in September

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will replace the SX4 and will come with petrol and diesel engines.

    Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sedan

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz concept was unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo earlier this year. With its sleek styling and modern proportions, the Ciaz certainly looks like another winner from Maruti. The automaker has also learned from its past mistakes and will launch both petrol and diesel powered Ciaz at the time of launch in September.

In terms of design, the Ciaz looks as modern as its biggest rivals, the Hyundai Verna and the Honda City. The front fascia is adorned by the large swept back headlamps and chunky grille that has been accentuated the four distinctive horizontal slats and a large Suzuki logo. The front bumper too adds to the aggressive look of the Ciaz with a distinctive and forward look that syncs well with the headlights.

Over to the rear, the Ciaz will get the large, almost Honda City like taillights and a wide and sporty rear bumper. The Ciaz is noticeably bigger than the current SX4 and will most likely be as long or longer than the likes of the Fiat Linea. Considering the fact that Suzuki has made the Ciaz particularly for markets like India and China, the Ciaz will also be extremely spacious in the rear and offer extremely high levels of boot space.

Expect the Ciaz to be powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine making 95PS of peak power and 130Nm of peak torque. The popular diesel engine option though will most likely be the tried and tested 1.3-litre engine with 90PS of peak power and 200Nm of peak torque. The Ciaz will get both a manual and an automatic gearbox although we are not sure whether Maruti will go with a CVT gearbox or their new AMT setup.

Although there is no official launch date confirmed, dealers in Mumbai have confirmed that the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be launched in September with bookings beginning in early August. Expect the Ciaz to be priced between Rs 7-10 lakh (ex-showroom)
